Join the Floor Brace Revolution

HIGH CAPACITY HIGH PERFORMANCE FLOOR JOIST BRACING SYSTEM

FLOORLOCK®

FLOORLOCK is a revolutionary floor joist bracing system that interlocks individual floor joists together, forcing the entire floor to perform as one structural unit, delivering:

  • Proven floor joist rollover protection from racking forces caused by High Winds and Earthquakes.

  • Improved Fire Rating – from 5 minutes to 20 minutes featuring non-combustible triangulated steel braces.

  • Optimized Floor Load Sharing Reducing Bounce and Vibration.

Problem Worth Solving

Racking of I-Joists causing structural collapse and failure.

When a building is exposed to shocks from High Winds and Earthquakes, the force is concentrated on the connections.

Ordinary floor framing structures are connected mainly at the load bearing walls with wood blocking and a few nails. When racking forces press upon the building the sheer wall can potentially deform and those connections can fail causing floor joists to roll over and floor systems to cave in.

Problem

Solution: Disaster Resistance

Burmon‘s patented FLOORLOCK system structurally interlocks floor joists together forcing the floor to act as one complete unit. This provides added strength and rigidity with no weak areas. In addition, the braces are engineered with triangulated steel to form cross bracing which minimizes deformation and damage to the building.

Other Advantages:
Improved Fire Rating

Fire testing results reveal that manufactured I-Joists will generally fail after 5 minutes causing the floor to collapse.

Installing FloorLock‘s non-combustible triangulated steel brace system will Improve Fire Failure Times on an I-Joist floor from 5 minutes to 20 minutes.

Allowing Firefighters more time before the floor collapses

Other Advantages:
Eliminates Squeaky Floors

FlOORLOCK braces wrap over the I-Joist Flange and then screwed to each side of the I-Joist Flange ensuring a strong secure and safe connection.

FlOORLOCK braces wrap over the I-Joist Flange and then screwed to each side of the I-Joist Flange ensuring a strong secure and safe connection.

Traditional I-Joist bridging requires fixing into the sides of the I-joist flange which over time degrades the overall connection causing the connection to come loose & floors squeak.

Other Advantages:
Optimizes and Increases
Floor Loading Sharing

FLOORLOCK bracing is engineered to spread heavy loads over the whole floor area reducing floor deflection and bounce.

Other Advantages:
Accomodates Mechanical Systems

FLOORLOCK's Pass Through Brace accommodates electrical wiring, plumbing lines and other mechanical systems.

Other Advantages:
Fast & Easy to Install

FLOORLOCK steel bracing is manufactured precisely to standard on-centre spacing widths which makes setting out the floor system are breeze saving time and money.

1
The top brace can be installed first which secures the I-Joists in position, no need for temporary bracing.
2
Install the subfloor next allowing for fast and easy workflow. Acts as Joist Spacers saving measuring time.
3
After the sub floor has been laid, install the bottom brace to the I-Joist.
4
Finally, connect the top brace to the bottom brace with fasteners supplied.
