Application - Roof Truss to Wall Frame Tie Down

Step 1a. Position the Cyclone Bracket at the set out point on the top plate.

Step 1b. Use a cordless driver to fix screws into the top plate.
NOTE: DO NOT USE NAILS TO FIX INTO THE TOP PLATE.

Step 2. Place the Truss inside the Cyclone Bracket and secure screw(s) to each side of the truss.

Load Data

  1. The Limit state design capacities for the Burmon Cyclone Bracket resisting wind up lift are as shown in these tables. Design capacities have been obtained from Laboratory testing and procedures given in AS1720.1.
  2. For Higher load capacity use Burmon Over Strap - See Cyclone Bracket Extreme.
  3. Cyclone Bracket (Australian Patent 2013209390) is certified by Registered Structural Engineers for the Australian Building Industry in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and building Codes.

Fixing Guide

84 screws into top plate. (2 screws into alternate ends of bracket)
2 screw into the truss each side.
(if using Nails into the truss allow for 5 each side)
104 screws into top plate. (2 screws into alternate ends of bracket)
3 screw into the truss each side.
(if using Nails into the truss allow for 6 each side)
126 screws into top plate.
3 screws into the truss each side.
(if using Nails into the truss allow for 7 each side)
146 screws into top plate.
4 screws into the truss each side.
(if using Nails into the truss allow for 8 each side)

  1. The Burmon Cyclone Bracket is fully certified and tested for use in accordance with AS1684 Residential Timber Framed Construction
